A Story of My Success for Being An English Literature Student

My best friend, Nofri and I graduated from senior high school in 2009, in Senior High School 1 Probolinggo We tried to follow some tests to be able to be accepted in a state university in 2010, one year after we graduated from senior high school. It was not easy for us as a graduate in 2009. We had to compete with thousands of students or even more, and  most of them were graduates in 2010. Their memories about questions of the tests certainly were better than us. One year without school activities had made us bored. We had to try hard to be able to be accepted in a state university. At that time, we had only about a month for preparation of the tests. First, we tried SMPS 1 at State University of Malang. I chose English Literature for the first choice and Accountancy Education for the second choice. Nofri chose English Education for the first and History Education for the second choice. We had studied hard for the test, but I was too nervous at that time. I was too afraid to make mistakes, so I just skipped the questions if I doubted with my answers. There were only about one-fourth of the test questions which I answered. But it was very different from Nofri. He tried to take a risk, answering all the test questions although he was still confused whether his answers were true or false. As a result, he was accepted in the second choice as a History Education student, but not me. Then about one month before SNMPTN test, I decided to try a test at State University of Jember. But again, my nervousness was not reduced. I was still too afraid to take a risk. So again and again I got a failure. Several days later, the real bad news came. My best friend, Nofri got an accident. An explosion of a gasometer in his house had made me lose him. My best friend, Nofri passed away about two weeks after the accident. before he passed away, he gave an useful advice to me. With a low voice, he said that I had to keep my spirit and I had to have courage to take a risk if I wanted to be successful. He said that the successful people were those who had courage to take a risk for expressing their opinion in their life. There was not unuseful thing if we had done the best. One week later, the time for SNMPTN test came. I tried to do the best for the test. I kept studying hard before, and I tried to take a risk, answering almost whole questions of the test. As a result, I was accepted on the first choice as one of English Literature students  at State University of Malang. I got the proof that successful people were those who had courage to take a risk for expressing their opinion.

My Unforgetable Experience

My unforgettable experience in my life is my struggle to study in a state university. It was a year ago when I graduated from senior high school. I still remember about my dream to be a Dentist, and therefore I took test in a few Universities such as State University of Jember (UJ), State University of Malang (UM), and Brawijaya University (UB). At first I took PMDK (Penelusuran Minat dan Kemampuan) program at UJ. I took Dentist faculty as my first choice and FKM (Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat) as my second choice. Actually I did not really hope to study there because this university is too far from my house so I have not checked the announcement up until now. Then, I prepared my self to enroll UB and UM. Those universities were my main targets. I studied hard and practiced my skills to do the test exercises quickly and correctly. Not only that, I also took course for a month in AJAZ for SNMPTN (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri) program. I got a lot of knowledge especially about some smart tricks to solve the exercises. Three weeks later, I got a PMDK test to enter UM. I took English literature and Economics. The test was held in two days. The first day was reading test. I felt so nervous, I doubted that I could enter this university especially in English Department I felt so disappointed because I could not find my name printed on board announcement. But I kept on trying and never gave up. Then, I enrolled UB for SPKS UTUL ( Seleksi Program Kemitraan Sekolah Ujian Tulis) program. I took Dentist faculty and Midwife Department. Again I failed. I was so depressed and I had no spirit at all. But my parents, my teachers, and my friends always supported me. I opened the UM website, there was PMKB ( Penelusuran Minat Kemampuan Bakat) program and the rules were almost the same as PMDK. Then, I decided to enroll this program. I took English Department again, I did the test carefully and always prayed to God. A while after reading test, the result was announced. Oh God, I really did not believe that there was my name printed on board announcement. So, I could follow the next selection. It was interview. I did my best to answer all of the question well. A month later, I opened the website to look my name. I felt so happy because there was my name. My parents were proud of me. I really thank God. Although I was accepted at UM I still followed the SNMPTN for Dentist faculty. But I failed again. I realized that Dentist faculty has a high passing grade. Maybe God had given me his bless to study at State University of Malang in English Department.

How to Avoid The Viruses

Viruses which attacks our personal computer is mostly the problem of using computers. Actually we can avoid them by using the stronger anti viruses such as Avira, Norton, Mc Afee, Kaspersky, and many others. But it is not good enough if we do not know the right steps to avoid the viruses. Firstly, if we want to plug in a flash disk, do not ever open the flash disk with the windows explore because it will be the easy way of the viruses to spread and influence your personal computer. So the right thing to do is to scan it with the antivirus and wait until the scan is finished. Secondly, for the backup to secure the viruses we have to have a local antivirus such as, PC Media, SMADAV, ARTAV, or avatar because we realize that the viruses are not only from the outsiders but also from insiders, local viruses. Thirdly, if we want to search some information by Internet, you will need some anti viruses to make sure you do not get some viruses which enter your personal computer. Microsoft windows already has the software to block the malware or bug in Internet. You have to activate the firewall application if you use the Internet. The final step is not to forget to always update your anti viruses. Viruses can easily harm your personal computer if you are not aware of them. But if you do these steps, I guarantee that your personal computer will be safe.

How to make Es Kopyor

Let us make Es kopyor as a drink when we have a lunch time. It is a good idea to make that kind of drink. Firstly, prepare the water about 1680 ml on the casserole. Then pour one wrapper of nutrijel, two wrappers of swallow jelly and sugar as you want into the casserole. We are going to make Es kopyor with an orange flavor, so do not forget to put the orange essence into the casserole. Now, mingle them till the color becomes an orange. Next heat the water. Meanwhile, make the syrup as the sauce for the jelly. The step is like how to make an usual drink from the syrup as the sauce for the jelly. After we make the sauce, we have to prepare the cold water to produce the jelly. For the cold water, we use ice cube. Just  lay the ice into water that we have prepared. Let us go back to the jelly. After the jelly is boiled, take it with soup spoon then place it into the cold water. It will be automatically frozen and becomes the jelly with orange flavor. Wait about five minutes. The final step is to take the jelly from the cold water and put it into the sauce. You can add nata de coco if you delight it. Now the drink is ready to serve.

A Great Teacher

When I was in senior high school, I was taught by a great teachers. The one who I like the most was Mr. Supriyoko. I always felt blissful and exciting being in his class. Almost every student at school likes him because of the way he taught and his patience. He often taught his students clearly, so it was not usually hard to grasp the materials. Sometimes he gave the main ideas of the materials. He also offered to have a make up class. It was so helpful to us. The way he explained was awesome. He not only described the materials but also made a funny practice, for example when we had to retell the story. Mr Supriyoko asked  the students to move the ruler quickly to the other students and when he said stop, then the students who hold the ruler got turn to retell the story. He also used to help his students who got a problem when they studied, particularly when they were not in classroom. In my period he was a favorite teachers among the others.

My Room at Boarding House

When I was in senior high school, my favorite place was my bedroom at boarding house. I love it because it was like my house. The room was not large, it was about 3 x 4 metres. My room, was painted with white color, that was the reason why I felt comfortable when I was in there. If we came into the room through the door, firstly we will see the bed under the window, from which the wind blows hard so the room will be windy and full of fresh air. Next to the door was the cupboard , besides I used to keep my clothes, I also keep my books on there. Nearby the cupboard was the table, it was kind of aged table but still tough to used. The special thing from my room was I looked across the window in the morning. I saw the sunrise and the ray came up into the room, it made me infatuated with my room. My roommate and the landlord were nice to me. So I feel like a fabulous experience and full of atmosphere when I stayed in that boarding house.
